Miami Corporation was incorporated in 1917 by descendants of William Deering, who founded the farm implement company, Deering Harvester, in the 19th century. At the turn of the 20th century Deering Harvester was part of a multi-company merger that formed International Harvester.
Miami Corporation’s investments include lands in Oregon and Louisiana as well as Florida. The lands have been owned since the early 20th century and are managed for various resources, including timber, oil and gas, hunting, and grazing.
For more than eighty years, Miami Corporation has managed 57,000 acres in Volusia and Brevard Counties known as the Farmton tract. Miami Corporation wants to create a long-term plan for Farmton that ensures its economic success while continuing their history of thoughtful stewardship of the land.
