Volusia County Amendment

Volusia County Comprehensive Plan Adoption Package

The Farmton Local Plan for Volusia County was filed in January 2009 and subsequently revised over 35 times.  It was reviewed by the Peer Review Committee in June and adjusted following review by scientific stakeholders in July and August.  The plan had a favorable staff report and was recommended for transmittal by the Planning and Land Development Regulations Commission on September 22, 2009 and transmitted by the County Council on October 15, 2009.  After further revision, the County Council adopted the Plan on February 18, 2010, and it was certified for consistency by the Volusia Growth Management Commission on March 24, 2010.  Subsequently, the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) held the Plan not in compliance and an administrative hearing was conducted in September 2010.

Following that hearing, settlement discussions began and a Settlement Agreement was approved on March 17, 2011.  Remedial amendments were adopted by the County Council on April 7, 2011 and subsequently approved by the Growth Management Commission.  On April 25, 2011, DCA issued a Cumulative Notice of Intent finding the Farmton Plan to be in compliance.
